Ozzie Hardy was a retired Haverhill Police Officer that for the past 30 years with the help of countless volunteers and donations has helped thousands of Haverhill children have a little something under the tree on Christmas morning. Ozzie's journey started 33 years ago, when he was working in the schools as a Juvenile Police Officer and noticed so many kids didn't have proper coats, gloves, hats etc., so he and some City Hall employees had about 20 kids to the "old police station" with their "Charlie Brown tree". they had a little Christmas party and passed out warm coats, popcorn and hot chocolate. Over the years "Ozzie's Kids" has helped thousands and thousands of kids from Haverhill all made possible through the help of donations from local businesses, schools and individuals each year it grows, in 2020 we helped nearly 1,300 children. Children between the ages of newborn and 12 years old. Each child receives 5-7 gifts a piece and we always try to include hats, gloves, blanket or coat and then the rest is what the kids really want... TOYS!!! Parents start registering as early as September. We also receive countless names from our Haverhill School systems of families that need a little help. Sadly in 2019 we lost Ozzie and his wife Gayle but with the commitment from his children and volunteers, we will carry on his legacy.
I Believe
No child should do without a little something under the tree on Christmas morning
